Google Photos 'Quick Edit” Is Rolling Out, and You'll Probably Want to Turn It Off
Apr 26, 2025 pm 09:01 PMGoogle Photos introduces a new "Quick Edit" feature for last-minute photo adjustments before sharing. This feature offers basic editing options like cropping and automated color enhancement, providing a final touch-up before sending your photos.
Unlike a full-fledged photo editor, "Quick Edit" focuses on simple fixes. Think cropping out unwanted elements or boosting colors for a quick improvement. However, its placement within the sharing workflow raises questions: wouldn't users already have edited their photos if they're ready to share? A dedicated edit button already exists in the same menu.
Fortunately, this feature is easily disabled. A "Turn Off" button is conveniently located on the Quick Edit screen. You can always re-enable it later via Profile photo > Photos Settings > Sharing > Quick Edit Before Sharing.
Google is deploying this update gradually via server-side changes, so its availability may vary. Currently, its presence on iOS devices remains unclear. While personally disabling it, users may find this feature helpful for a final image check before sharing.
