Apple launches iPad Air update, using the same design, and upgrades the processor to a powerful M3 chip.
The seventh-generation iPad Air is officially released. As a bridge between the iPad product line and the iPad Pro, the iPad Air continues to offer the performance advantages of some Pro models at a more affordable price.
The biggest change is the use of M3 chips, including a 9-core GPU (rather than 8-core), an 8-core CPU (35% faster clock speed than M1), and a more powerful neural network engine. In addition, a media engine is also equipped for ProRes and ProRes RAW codec.
Apart from the M3 chip, the M3 model has almost no difference from the previous M2 model, which can be called a specification upgrade and update.
It is still available in two sizes, 11-inch and 13-inch, with resolutions of 2732 x 2048 and 2360 x 1640, respectively. The 13-inch model still has a brightness of 600 nits and the 11-inch model has a 500 nits, and supports wide color gamut (P3), original color display and Apple Pencil hover.
In terms of size, it is exactly the same as the previous generation, accurate to millimeters. Again, Touch ID is used, not Face ID, integrated into the top button.
The front is equipped with a horizontal 12MP center stage camera and a 12MP wide-angle camera on the back, supporting 5x digital zoom. 4K video recording at up to 60fps and 1080p slow-mo video recording at 240fps, while the audio is processed by a horizontal stereo speaker and a pair of microphones.
The 11-inch version starts at $599 and the 13-inch version starts at $799. It is now available for pre-order and will be available on March 12.
