Throughout your long adventures in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon, you will consistently search for specific items to enhance or enrich the overall experience. One such item is the Ethereal Cobwebs, which are crucial materials that can be used at a campfire to unlock various features, including alchemy and instant teleportation. However, there is one character in the world who specifically asks for some cobwebs—but not just any ordinary ones.

Pre-requisite: Completion of Dead of Dreams side mission.

Accepting the Quest

Early on in the game, when you come across the Horns village located in the west, you’ll meet several unique NPCs offering a variety of missions. Whether it’s transporting yourself into a dreamlike realm or gathering ingredients to bake a pie, there's plenty to explore and accomplish in this world.

For the Gathering Ethereal Cobwebs quest, you must first leave the village to accept the task. Head directly north along the road (avoid the coastal path). Eventually, you'll reach a crossroads where a bandit patrols the area, and there's also a small hut where a tracker is skinning a deer. Here, you will meet Margh, who gives you the extensive side quest known as Dead of Dreams.

Once you’ve completed Dead of Dreams, return to Margh, and he will present you with a new request: collect Ethereal Cobwebs. This will become a recurring task throughout your journey in Avalon. However, Margh has a particular kind of Ethereal Cobwebs in mind.

Finding the Ethereal Cobwebs

Margh instructs you to head north to find the Ethereal Cobwebs he desires. You must travel to the Archspire. It’s surprisingly easy to overlook the correct location for obtaining these cobwebs. If you enter the Archspire directly, you may see the webbing but find it impossible to climb up.

We managed to climb from there eventually, but it required a lot of precise movement—jumping, crouching, and angling just right. In hindsight, there’s a much simpler way to access the area. Instead, approach the southern entrance of the Archspire and make your way toward the teleport crystal. Once you activate the teleport, turn around 180 degrees—you should now see a rocky slope leading upward.

Climb the incline, and you’ll soon encounter a locked chest that’s fairly simple to pick if you have lockpicks. Continue past the chest until you nearly reach the back of the Archspire, then immediately turn right. Unfortunately, you’ll run into a ghostly phantom—referred to in-game as a Deadly Guard. Armed with a sword, this enemy can deal heavy damage if you attempt this early in the story. If you’re quick enough, you might evade him, grab the cobwebs, and escape. Alternatively, defeat the guard for 270 XP.

You’ll also discover the young traveler mentioned by Margh lying dead nearby. Feel free to loot his body, as he carries a few useful trinkets. Afterward, return to Margh, hand over the Ethereal Cobwebs, and claim your reward.
