The final week of Destiny 2's Rite of the Nine event is getting a minor loot-focused update. Dubbed "Lootapalooza" on social media, this last stretch features significantly boosted drop rates for dungeon weapons and Nonary Manifolds. It also introduces special chests that offer guaranteed weapon drops.
If you're hunting for a specific roll from this event’s loot pool, now is the best time to jump in and collect what you need. Below, we’ll break down how the Lootapalooza event works and highlight all the new additions Bungie introduced for this final week.
What Is Lootapalooza?
Lootapalooza is an unofficial name for a limited-time loot event active during the final week of Rite of the Nine. From July 8 until The Edge of Fate launches, all Rite of the Nine-associated dungeons—Spire of the Watcher, Ghosts of the Deep, and Prophecy—have greatly increased drop chances for Nonary Manifolds and dungeon weapons. Encounter rewards remain unchanged, but the odds of obtaining a dungeon weapon from fallen enemies are much higher than normal.
In addition, Bungie has included extra rewards to maximize the event's value.
-
Free Nonary Engrams: Speak to The Emissary daily to receive a free Nonary Engram.
- A current bug allows you to claim one engram per character.
- Weapon Focusing: A new area has opened in the Rite of the Nine hub where you can open chests that guarantee certain weapons.
- Mystikos Quest: This quest asks you to complete all three Rite of the Nine dungeons this week, contributing toward the Eternal title.
Mystikos Dungeon Gauntlet Quest
Mystikos is a new quest available only during the final week of Rite of the Nine, requiring you to complete all three ROTN dungeons before the next weekly reset. These must be completed on Eternity difficulty; Explorer and Ultimatum modes won't count. Finishing this quest will complete the "Running the Gauntlet" Triumph tied to the Eternal title. If there's a particular Triumph from that title you'd rather skip, completing Mystikos will suffice instead.
Weapon Focusing
The top room of the Rite of the Nine hub is now accessible, introducing a new weapon focusing system designed to help players target specific weapons more efficiently. When entering the Rite of the Nine hub, climb to the top of the spire and step onto the tower itself. A pink-lit platform will teleport you to a secret room containing a circle of chests.
Each chest in this room will always drop a specific weapon from the event. For instance, if a chest is positioned next to the Long Arm, opening it will always give you a copy of Long Arm. There is a standard weapon chest (cost: 325 Nonary Manifolds) and an adept weapon chest (cost: 450 Nonary Manifolds). You can open these as many times as desired. Make sure to use any leftover Manifolds on desired weapons before the Rite of the Nine event ends next Tuesday.
