Browse All Uma Musume: Pretty Derby Affinity in Umamusume: Pretty Derby determines how likely you are to pass on strong skills and stats during inheritance. With low affinity, your runs will have trouble receiving significant bonuses, even with solid support cards.
How Affinity Works
Each girl in Uma Musume is part of hidden compatibility groups.
At the start of training, the game evaluates how many of your selected legacies and their sub-legacies align with your main character's groups.
- When your main character and a legacy belong to the same group, you earn that group’s point value.
- If a sub-legacy also matches that group, additional points are awarded.
- The system checks all matching groups and sums up the total points.
You also gain extra points if both legacies fall under the same group.
Additional Bonus from G1 Wins
Securing the same G1 race win with your legacy and sub-legacy increases compatibility.
Each pair contributes 3 affinity points:
- If Legacy A and Sub-legacy B have both won Arima Kinen, you gain 3 points.
- If Legacy A and Legacy B also share that win, you gain another 3.
These bonuses accumulate, helping you reach a full double-O inheritance.
Character Versions Have No Impact
All versions of a character are treated equally for affinity purposes.
Whether it's a seasonal, collaboration, or base version, simply match the name—any version functions the same within the system.
Using the Affinity Calculator
Before beginning your run, use the Uma Musume Pretty Derby affinity calculator.
Select your main character, then add your legacy choices. The tool displays your total affinity score and automatically checks all sub-legacies.
This is the simplest way to ensure you meet the double-O requirement before investing time in an ineffective setup.
Final Blurb
Affinity is one of the most critical mechanics in Uma Musume Pretty Derby—and often underestimated. Poor affinity can destroy your build. Always use the calculator to set yourself up properly.
TL;DR
- Affinity influences inheritance strength in Uma Musume Pretty Derby.
- It depends on hidden character groups shared between your main, legacy, and sub-legacy.
- Shared G1 race wins provide bonus points.
- Different versions of characters do not affect affinity.
- Always verify your total score using the calculator before starting your run.
