Does your birthday matter in Death Stranding 2?

The short answer is no, aside from a cutscene and a puzzle later in the game, your birthday has no effect on gameplay, Sam's DOOMS, or the story in Death Stranding 2.

DOOMS

Your selected birthday date does not appear to influence the strength of Sam's DOOMS during gameplay in Death Stranding 2, even though it's referenced when entering the date. To recap quickly, DOOMS is a condition affecting Sam that enhances his ability to sense and interact with BTs. Many others possess this ability too, at varying levels.

However, if you'd like to choose a date that might possibly give you a stronger DOOMS, here are some options:

• Pisces - 18th February to 20th March
• Cancer - 21st June to 22nd July
• Cetus - November (Mostly Scorpio, beginning of Sagittarius)
• Delphinus - September (Mostly Virgo, beginning of Libra)
• Gigas - January (Mostly Capricorn, beginning of Aquarius)

If your actual or preferred sign isn't listed, don’t worry—mine isn’t either, and my Sam seems to have DOOMS just as strong as those who picked the signs above.

Birthday Cutscene

Most importantly, if you log into Death Stranding 2 on your chosen birthday date, there’s a surprise waiting for you. If you’ve completed Order 9 in Australia, enter your Private Room aboard the Magellan, and you’ll find a special scene prepared. Inside your room will be the full crew—including Higgs—wishing you a happy birthday.

After this fun little bonus moment, you'll receive 900 Likes from Drawbridge, a slice of pizza (which restores stamina), and Heartman's Star-Shaped Glasses. All of these items will then be available to you inside your Private Room after the cutscene concludes.

In case you missed your birthday and want to see this cutscene without waiting another year, you can always start a new save file. Keep in mind that you must be past Order 9 in Australia to trigger this scene, so set your birthday accordingly. For instance, if you plan to start a new save file on 27th June and expect it to take about three days to reach Order 9, you should set your birthday to 30th June to maximize your chance of experiencing this event and collecting the rewards.
