It’s not the strongest armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but it does provide some early protection that can help you survive longer at the start of the game. Plus, it's a recognizable piece from the TOTK trailers, so many players may want to sport the look as they traverse the massive world of Hyrule.
To assist Link in getting suited up for his skyward journey, we've outlined the Archaic Tunic location, and provided a more detailed explanation on how to get the Archaic Tunic in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

You'll find the Archaic Tunic inside a chest at the northern entrance of the Pondside Cave in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, located on the south-west portion of the Great Sky Island.
Here's a map image showing where the Pondside Cave is located in TOTK:
If you're having trouble finding your way to the cave or locating the armor inside, continue reading below for a full guide on how to reach the Archaic Tunic.
How to get the Archaic Tunic in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
There are multiple ways to reach the Pondside Cave, which contains the Archaic Tunic, but we found the easiest path starts at the In-Isa Shrine on the western side of the Great Sky Island, shortly after obtaining the Fuse ability.
From the In-Isa Shrine, travel east toward the Zonai camp featuring a cooking pot. Along the way, you might come across Chu-Chus fighting Zonai Constructs. If you’re looking for extra Chu-Chu or Zonai materials, feel free to engage them, though it’s not required.

This is the Pondside Cave where the Archaic Tunic is located, but you’ll need to reach the end of the cave first. As you proceed, Link will encounter Keese and a Bubbulfrog enemy. It's a good idea to have a bow equipped if you prefer taking them down from a distance.
Upon reaching the cavern with the Bubbulfrog, consider using a weapon to break the cracked rocks on the eastern wall to reveal mining veins containing a Ruby. If a regular sword or stick doesn’t work, try a Fused Hammer like we did to break through the rock.

Equipping the Archaic Tunic grants Link 1 Armor point, and if this is your first tunic, Link no longer has to wander around bare-chested like a Hylian wrestler.
