Though you’ll acquire the cipher early in your journey, you won’t be able to proceed with it immediately. Accessing its location will require some patience and effort, as even Alidoro won't be able to assist you this time around.

Where To Find The Frosted Cipher

You can find the Frosted Cipher Machine at the conclusion of the Frozen Coast section. It appears just before the Ship Exterior Stargazer, though reaching it directly from there isn't possible due to a steep drop.

This cipher is protected by a powerful enemy who emerges dramatically from the wreckage of an old ship, and you must defeat it in combat to claim access to the cipher's location.

After defeating the foe, the Frosted Cipher can be collected from a vault nearby, located next to the cliff overlooking the Ship Exterior Stargazer.

However, taking this cipher straight to Alidoro at Eventide Hotel Krat won't work — he lacks the key needed to open it.

Instead, the key lies hidden within the coat jacket of Lumacchio's Golden Snail Attire. Only after you've defeated Lumacchio should you return to Alidoro to finally unlock the Frosted Cipher.

How To Solve The Frosted Cipher's Hint: The Lighthouse

The Frosted Cipher will lead you to investigate the Lighthouse. If you’ve only just beaten Lumacchio when you unlock this cipher, know that you must advance further into the DLC to reach your destination.

This Lighthouse sits on the opposite side of the Fishing Village, beyond the entirety of the Ship Interior area.

Before heading onward, consider picking up Salao, the Old Fisherman’s quest and at least one Black Rabbit Hole Key, as both quests converge at the Lighthouse.

Inside the Lighthouse, head downstairs where you'll discover a pressure plate that reacts based on your character's weight. There are two ways to activate it:

1. Carry enough items and equipment to reach maximum weight.
2. Wear the Giant's Amulet.

If you don’t already own the Giant's Amulet, you can buy it from the Wandering Merchant on the Frozen Coast near the Stargazer.

It doesn’t cost much — usually between 100-300 Ergo, making it the most affordable amulet in the game.

Once the pressure plate is activated, the door will open, allowing you to collect the Lighthouse Keeper's journal. Be sure to read it thoroughly.
