Apple has pushed out iOS 17 public beta 6 for iPhones and iPadOS 17 public beta 6 for iPads. These public betas share the same build number as the corresponding iOS 17 beta 8 provided to developers, both using build 21A5326a.
Moreover, new public betas are available for watchOS and tvOS 17, but there hasn’t been a beta update for macOS Sonoma yet.
Even though beta system software targets advanced users, anyone with an eligible iPhone can install iOS 17 public beta. Similarly, users with a compatible iPad can install iPadOS 17 public beta.
How to Download & Update iOS 17 Public Beta 6 / iPadOS 17 Public Beta 6
If you’re already on the public beta, updating is straightforward:
- Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Navigate to “General,” and then select “Software Update.”
- Choose to “Download and Install” for iOS 17 Public Beta 6 / iPadOS 17 Public Beta 6.
As usual, your iPhone or iPad will need to restart to complete the installation.
iOS 17 introduces interactive widgets for the Home Screen, customizable Contact Posters, Safari Profiles, FaceTime Video Voicemail, Live Voicemail, NameDrop contact sharing, enhancements to predictive typing, changes to Messages, and numerous other minor features and modifications.
iPadOS 17 offers a customizable lock screen, Safari Profiles, FaceTime Visual Voicemail, interactive Home Screen widgets, improvements to Stage Manager multitasking view, enhanced predictive typing abilities, NameDrop contact sharing, and additional features.
Apple mentioned that both iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 will be launched in the fall.
Separately, Apple recently announced a “special event” for September 12, which is widely anticipated to be the launch date for the iPhone 15, and this could also be when we find out the exact release date for iOS 17.
