Elden Ring "Elden Ring: Shadow of the Elder Tree" adds some surprising NPCs that are not enemies and will even help. For example, the humble Moore, a collector who collects "items" because he believes that "items" can bring happiness to people.
Moore doesn't talk much, but he is both a businessman and will make you make a choice at critical moments. To help you make the right (or wrong!) choice, here is a guide to Moore’s side missions that tell you whether you should make him “forever sad” or “l(fā)et the past.”
The following contains spoilers for Moore's side quests and mid-game events that affect it.
Moore's side mission guide for "Eldon's Ring of the Ring of the Ring of the Elder Tree: Shadow of the Elder Tree"
- Talk to Moore at the intersection of the main city gates and buy his items to unlock more conversations.
- After meeting Theolier, talk to Moore to get the black syrup.
- After the fragments are broken, talk to Moore and tell him to "let the past."
- Moore will appear in later battles later.
- [Optional] Tell Moore to "be sad forever" that he will no longer appear alive.
- 【Optional】Kill two foraging larvae before Moore makes a decision, triggering Moore's invasion and killing him.
Moore's location
Moore is one of Mikela's followers, first appearing at the intersection of the main city gates in front of the settlement of Beirulatta. It's hard to find a reason to not like him. He doesn't talk much, but we know he likes to collect things that make people happy, and ultimately, we know he likes us. Enough for me.
That is, after "The Great Rune Broken" in "The Shadow of the Elder Tree", Moore will approach you with something. The first time is after you also meet Siolal at the cylindrical path intersection.
After talking to Siolal and returning to Moore, Moore will give you some black syrup to the poison merchant, and if you do, you will receive Siolal's mixture . A potion that will kill you once taken. Check out our page on how to use the Mix of Siolil to learn more about how it is used as it can bring you some really good spiritual ashes.
Next, Moore will ask you a question after you explore Skaduartus and experience the broken runes of Mikara.
It is also worth noting that Moore is friends with the non-hostile pests you encounter in Shadowlands. There are six in total, and by talking to each, you will get six foraging recipes.
Moore: Always be sad or let go of the past?
As Mikayla's charm has been broken, Moore understandably sad and depressed. He asked him what he should do and your answer would result in the following results:
- Tell Moore to "let go of the past" - this is what Moore does and will appear in Enier Ilim later.
- Tell Moore to "be sad forever" - Moore will disappear soon and will not appear in Enier Ilim afterwards. His body can be found on the edge of the cliff north of the Jihad Church, where you can loot his equipment and bell bearings.
- Tell Moore "I don't know" - this option allows you to answer this question later when you're ready. If you still want to collect all the foraging recipes, select this option because once Moore leaves, you can’t collect them anymore.
I personally tell Moore to be sad forever. I know, it's cruel, but I think FromSoftware might reward me for being a jerk, considering that it means I'm going to hit one less person in the future, I think I'm right.
Can you kill Moore earlier?
In Shadow of the Elder Tree, you can kill Moore early and end his mission early. To do this, you need to kill two foraging larvae . These are rotten relatives, much like those you find in the base game around Kelid and the Rotten Lake. However, foraging larvae will not fire pest lines at you, but can be found foraging and will not attack you.
If you interact with them, they will actually give you recipes, and there are a total of seven to find in the Shadow Realm.
If you choose to kill two of them, Moore will invade you. Kill him and return to his corpse at the intersection of the main city gates to loot his equipment and bell bearings, or ignore him (or die at his hands), and he will act as if nothing has happened. It is also worth noting that you can't do this after Moore makes a mission-critical decision, because Moore will run somewhere else.
