Hans Capon, the person who has been through a lot with you in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, is actually a romanceable character. While his personality has changed a lot since the first game, Hans has been a great friend to Henry, and if you're interested, you can turn that friendship into something more.
That said, you can't just romance him easily. To romance him, you will need to almost complete the game and make sure you stay in his good books throughout your journey. There are some checkpoints where you can greatly earn his favor. Here, we will guide you on how to romance Hans Capon.
This guide contains spoilers, so if you are still in the early game, proceed with caution.
How To Romance Hans
The most important aspect to romancing Hans is to select the heart icon options that appear during certain main quests. If you do not choose those options, then, unfortunately, there is no way to romance him.
After you complete the Laboratoes quest, you will have an intense argument with Hans. You can't gain his favor there, so letting all the anger out is fine. While you will lose a lot of reputation with him, it won't matter much.
You may also miss the opportunity to do so. The first time you can flirt with him is during the For Whom the Bell Tolls, a main quest that appears pretty early in the game. To gain a tremendous boost to your reputation with Hans, you will need to save him before the bell rings for the twelfth time.
While that can be difficult, it can boost your reputation with him, so it is worth the trouble. Then, after talking to Otto von Bergow, you can flirt with him. Before heading to the Nebakov Fortress, you will get the "I care about you." option with a heart icon.
Do note that von Bergow will give you the task of interrogating a prisoner; you will do that with Hans Capon keeping you company. If you torture the prisoner, you will lose a lot of reputation with Hans, but it doesn't seem to have a massive impact on your relationship with him.
Flirting With Hans
The next time you can flirt with Hans is during the Taking French Leave quest. You will be tasked with rescuing him. After doing so, he will not comply with you and refuses to go through the underground tunnel. Then, you will get the "We'll manage it together." option with a heart icon.
The quests where the option to flirt with Hans are mostly in the late game. So, you don't have to rush anything; play like you usually would.
If you don't select this option, then you likely won't be able to romance Hans, as the heart icon dialogue options have a lot of significance when it comes to romancing a particular character.
The next time you can flirt with him is during The Italian Job. This quest comes pretty late in the game and will trigger the second point of no return.
Flirting with Hans during The Italian Job is highly missable as the game doesn't tell you anything, and it doesn't happen during the main conversation. Similarly, you can also flirt with Katherine, who guards the infirmary's gate on Zizka's command.
If you think you don't have enough reputation with Hans, then completing the Like Old Times may help. However, it is easy to miss as it can only be triggered before starting the Into the Underworld main quest.
To flirt with Hans during The Italian Job mission, talk to him before talking to Zizka. Choose the options: "We spend too little time together." "Will you come through the underground with us?", and "I'm more concerned about you."
The last option will have a heart icon. After that, you can flirt with him again in the tunnels. This instance is also missable but will occur at the quest's end. Before climbing up the ladder, make sure to look for Hans; he can be found in the smaller crypts.
Choose the following dialogue options:
- You overcame your fear."
- "So you're alright?" / "The important thing is that you are alright."
- "I care about you."
Romancing Hans
Now you can't flirt with Hans anymore. Eventually, you will reach a quest called Hunger and Despair, where you can romance him. Before getting the reinforcements, you can talk to either him or Katherine.
If you romance Katherine, then you won't be able to romance Hans. You can only choose one character during your playthrough. However, if you don't want to start another playthrough and want to experience both scenarios at a single time, you can make a save beforehand.
Go over to the coordinates marked on your map and talk to Hans. Upon talking to him, he will start telling you a story, and eventually, you will get the option to kiss him. If you don't get the option, then it will be because you did not choose the heart options during the conversations, or you may not have enough reputation with him.
