The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: My Wish List for 2026
It's time to start dreaming about the next Galaxy Ultra flagship. After returning my S25 Ultra for a smaller model, here's what I hope Samsung delivers with the S26 Ultra:
- A More Refined Design: The S25 Ultra's design, while an improvement over the S24, still feels bulky and uncomfortable due to its sharp corners. I'm hoping for a completely rounded design, both on the corners and the sides, for a more ergonomic feel.
- Next-Level Camera Technology: Samsung boasts impressive camera tech, but the S25 Ultra falls short. It lacks the latest ISOCELL HP9 200MP sensor found in other brands' phones, and the default 12MP resolution limits the potential of its high-megapixel sensors. I'd love to see a jump to a 24MP default resolution, along with significant improvements in video quality, zoom capabilities, and smoother lens transitions.
- Rethinking the S-Pen: The S25 Ultra's S-Pen lacks Bluetooth functionality, losing features from previous models. I believe Samsung should consider making the S-Pen an optional accessory, freeing up valuable internal space for a larger battery and potentially offering cases with integrated S-Pen storage, similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

-
A More Powerful Battery: While the S25 Ultra's battery life is good, it could be better. A 5,500mAh battery or larger, potentially made possible by the removal of the S-Pen and advancements in silicon-carbon battery technology, would be a welcome upgrade.
-
True Qi2 Integration and Faster Charging: The S25 Ultra's "Qi2-ready" status is misleading; it lacks built-in magnets and offers no charging speed improvement over its predecessor. I hope the S26 Ultra fully embraces the Qi2 standard and delivers significantly faster wired charging speeds to match competitors.

In short, I want the S26 Ultra to be a significant leap forward. The S25 Ultra felt like a minor iteration. Samsung needs to address design flaws, enhance camera capabilities, improve battery life, and deliver meaningful upgrades, not just superficial AI enhancements. If they deliver on these points, I’ll be first in line.
