The importance of Apple Watch strap: Comfort and wear experience
The Apple Watch strap directly affects the wearing experience, including comfort, fit and overall feeling. Apple retail stores offer a variety of watch straps for customers to try on to help you make informed buying decisions. Before choosing a strap, consider your lifestyle and daily activities to make sure the strap is securely secured to your wrist.
Choose an Apple Watch strap as important as choosing clothes. Only by personally experiencing the touch, buckle mechanism and wearable feeling of different materials’ watch straps can you find the most suitable style. Ignoring this step can lead to expensive mistakes, as I have experienced.
The strap determines the experience of Apple Watch
While the size and model of the Apple Watch are important, nothing can affect the experience more than a watch strap.
Apple's growing strap collection has dazzling styles and materials. To name a few, there are fabric Velcro straps, silicone latch straps, magnetic straps, buckle-free straps, and the expensive Hermes strap series.
This is just a small part of the many choices. Even if we rule out six luxurious Hermes straps that most consumers can’t afford, we still face 14 styles, most of which have multiple color options. Apple's official website only provides a small number of pictures of each watch strap, and it is difficult to accurately understand the appearance of each watch strap, let alone wear it.
This is exactly why you should avoid buying straps online, and it is also a lesson I learned (first mistake).
All straps are available for trial wear in Apple retail stores
Solve this problem is simple: try it on at Apple retail store.
In my experience, various sizes and styles of watch straps produced by Apple can be tried on in-store. You may need to ask the staff for it, and they both allow me to wear the strap on my watch when I tried it on both times.
The reason I try it on is because I originally bought the Apple Watch online. I hurriedly chose to woven the Solo Loop strap because I can wear the watch without having to buckle it, which sounds ideal. But I quickly realized that this was a mistake. It was too loose on my wrist and I could find this very quickly if I tried it in the store.

View Apple's official website Worse, this strap seems to be looser quickly and wear more loosely; I can only imagine that my weight fluctuations will exacerbate this phenomenon. Now that Apple's 14-day return period is exceeded, I have to accept the $100 loss and buy it again.
When I purchased the second time, I corrected my mistake in online shopping and went to the aforementioned Apple retail store. When browsing the selection, what surprised me the most was that the appearance and feel of many of the straps was very different from the ones on the official website. For example, the sports Loop strap is too thin for me, while the magnetic strap lacks the weight I expected.
I eventually narrowed my choices to stainless steel Milanis buckle straps and silicone latch-type sports straps. I have both straps now, but just because I mistakenly chose the Milanis buckle strap again at the time, with the emphasis on its fully adjustable magnetic buckle. Although it feels perfect when trying it on,
But I didn't fully consider the incompatibility of the magnetic buckle system with my daily activities (second error).
Consider your usage scenario
Trying on a watch strap is important, but that's not all. There are some key factors you need to consider that may not be found in a quick test.
In my case, I didn't realize that although the magnetic buckle is strong, it will naturally loosen in daily life. This is especially true for me, as I often walk very long distances in New York City. I started to exercise more thanks to the sports rings of the watch, and I tend to do the occasional improvisational drum set to recall my past drumming career. All of these activities led me to constantly adjust my loose strap. Also, is this really the ideal strap for these activities? Not so.
While the Milanis buckle strap is still a good choice for improving the appearance of the watch for special occasions, I needed a strap that would allow me to take care of physical activity throughout the day. This prompted me to buy a sports strap that I was also considering, which has become my Apple Watch’s top strap for that reason.

When I first checked the Apple Watch strap, the silicone strap sounded uncomfortable. It wasn't until I tried it myself that this was actually the ideal choice for my lifestyle.
The durability and elasticity of silicone provide stability without sacrificing comfort. With enough adjustment holes, I never found the right size, and because of its durable elasticity, they never loosened after more than a year of use. What I was worried at first was that the base of the buckle would press on my blood vessels, or that a tightened strap would add volume, but these would only become a problem if the strap was tied too tight. Again, this is another aspect of the strap I learned after trying it in at Apple retail.
If you can't go to Apple retail stores, this design is a wise choice because it meets most people's needs at an affordable price. But if you have an Apple retail store nearby, don't listen to me. Trying on a watch strap yourself is the only way to know which one is right for you.
Or, if you have the ability to show off a $1,000 Hermes strap, show it all. However, please tell me your PayPal account first.
There are also many third-party Apple Watch straps to choose from. While you may not be able to try these straps, the How-To Geek website offers some strap suggestions worth buying.
