How Can I Programmatically Change a Drop-Down List\'s Selected Value Using jQuery?

Changing Drop-Down List Value with jQuery
In web development, it's often necessary to dynamically manipulate form elements using JavaScript frameworks like jQuery. A common task is to update the selected value of a drop-down list.

Using jQuery's powerful selectors, you can easily target the drop-down list by its CSS class. In this case, it's ._statusDDL.
Setting the Value
To set the value of the drop-down list, use the .val() method. However, unlike regular JavaScript where you would set the .value property, jQuery's .val() method expects a string value.
Troubleshooting an Issue
Initially, the .val(2) approach didn't work for you. This is because jQuery's.val() method doesn't perform the change propagation that regular JavaScript does when setting the .value property directly.
To ensure the change is propagated properly, append .change() to the .val() method call, as seen in the following code:

This combination successfully updates the selected value of the drop-down list in both frontend and backend scenarios.
